Quite often I get asked if heated toilet seats would be a welcome addition to public bathrooms. I mean, quite often rooms are kept climate controlled, and sometimes that can cause toilet seats to hover on the chilly line. We already know that heated toilets and toilet seats exist, but would they have a welcoming existence in a public bathroom? I don’t think so. At least for now, until they become more apparent and integrated into our chilly-bottomed society. The reason I say this is simple, if you walked into a bathroom stall at this very moment, sat down, and noticed the seat was warm, would you welcome it? For some reason I don’t think you would. Currently, in 2011, we still have the idea that a warm toilet seat means that it had a previous occupant who also sat square on the seat and warmed it up with his own body heat. I don’t think America or the world is ready for the responsibility of having automatically warmed seats unless it explicitly noted that they were heated. If it didn’t, I think we’d see a surge in the amount of people using urinals…and I don’t mean just for peeing.
